The OPUS Audio file format
Developed with the intent to support internet streaming by the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) OPUS is a lossy audio format. The OPUS extension encoded with OPUS codec are uncommon as the OPUS codec is mainly brought in use for streaming.
Technical details of OPUS files
Easily adjustable between high and low bit rates, from 6 kb/s to 510 kb/s, the OPUS extension draws inspiration from both SILK (used by Skype) and CELT codec. This codec is popularly brought in use for video conferencing, voice over IP, in video chats, and to serve a lot more purposes.
